Your 2025 Travel Guide: New Rules, Hot Spots, and Must-Have Gadgets
Travel offers countless benefits for the whole family. Exploring new cultures together helps children develop a broader perspective, fosters curiosity, and builds resilience. For parents, it’s an opportunity to connect with their kids away from daily routines while promoting wellness and personal growth. Experiencing diverse traditions, foods, and languages as a family creates lasting memories and cultivates a shared sense of adventure that strengthens bonds.
As we step into 2025, the world is more connected than ever, and travel remains a favorite way to explore, relax, and create lasting memories. However, this year brings some important updates for travelers, particularly for those heading to the UK and the EU. Let’s dive into what you need to know to make your trips seamless and stylish.
New Entry Requirements for 2025
UK Entry Requirements
Starting in 2025, travelers from many countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia, will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before visiting the UK. This requirement applies to short stays, including vacations and business trips. The ETA application is straightforward, can be completed online, and usually gets approved within 72 hours. Make sure to apply well in advance to avoid delays.
EU Entry Requirements
The long-anticipated European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is now in effect. Travelers from visa-exempt countries must complete an ETIAS application before entering the Schengen Zone. The application costs €7 (free for those under 18 and over 70) and remains valid for up to three years or until your passport expires.
Both the ETA and ETIAS are designed to enhance security and streamline travel, so don’t forget to add these to your pre-travel checklist!
My New Secret Weapon for Travel as Beginner
If you are total travel newby but ready to explore in 2025, check out there tour groups. My go to for Europe and Asia is Expat Explore. For my Europe tour in 2024 I visit 7 countries, six with the tour group and one on my own. For 2025 I have visit more countries and cities, alone or guided. Guided tours are relaxing (for the most part). After you figure out how to pay for the tour and buy your flight plus travel insurance and book a hotel for before and after the tour. . . its a breeze. I get very anxious about travel planning but I was able to handle this for my 7 country tour. Hit me up for more details on this and check out my Youtube videos where I talk about the tour and share videos from my trips. https://youtu.be/YtdCMHQ6ni0?si=3NyieSxoF_mJPgyR
I also recommend checking out Happistart travel @ www.happistart.org which is a Jamaican-owned travel group offering excursions around the world. Another favorite which I have used for local tours in GetYourGuide. I have used then to tour The Cottswold, Stonehenge and Bath in the United Kingdom. I also used them to tour The Ruins at Kilkenny, Glendalough, both in Ireland. You can visit their website for information.
